National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, popularly known as NSS.

NSS was formally launched on 24th September, 1969. It provides opportunities to students of higher secondary, degree and postgraduate programmes studying in schools, colleges and universities across India to participate in community service activities and programmes.

NSS inculcates the spirit of voluntary work among students and teachers through sustained community interaction and brings academic institutions closer to society.
